As she entered the second half of her first year of medical school, she set her sights on getting stronger, improving her pull-ups, and even finishing a novel with her writers\u2019 group.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNone of what I accomplished was achieved perfectly,\u201d she said. \u201cI had days where I wanted to quit. I had days where I felt like I had not pushed hard enough in the gym or studied enough. Her strength improved across the board. Her one-arm dumbbell row increased from 40lb to 55lb for sets of 12. Her incline dumbbell press moved from 35 to 45lb. Her overhead press doubled. She hit her goal of 20 pull-ups. And all of this while being in a moderate deficit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI plan to be lifting when I am 90,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHitting 20 pull-ups felt like proving something important to myself,\u201d she continued. \u201cI know there are a few gals out there who can do more pull-ups, but actually doing it myself, feeling what it takes to be that strong, has given me a whole new perspective on what is possible for anyone to achieve.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also maintained strong academic performance, earning an A in her studies, while continuing her writing. \u201cI read some great books, and my novel is finished,\u201d she said. \u201cI am just waiting on my writers\u2019 group for some editing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2084\" height=\"1404\" src=\"https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2.png\" alt=\"RJ - Before and after - Side\" class=\"wp-image-15404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2.png 2084w, https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2-300x202.png 300w, https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2-1024x690.png 1024w, https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2-768x517.png 768w, https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2-1536x1035.png 1536w, https:\/\/macrofactor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RJ-2-2048x1380.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2084px) 100vw, 2084px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-favorite-features-and-app-philosophies-nbsp\">Favorite features and app philosophies&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For RJ, efficiency was the chief concern. With so much going on, she needed a system that made her life easier. Longer term, she plans to finish a proper bulk and continue gaining strength in her lifts. For now, she is proud of what she has accomplished in a relatively short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am proud of my grades and the fact that people at the gym stare when tiny little me picks up the 55lb dumbbells and starts going to town,\u201d she said. \u201cI can do 20 pull-ups in a row now, and breaking through that ceiling just makes me want to find out where my real limits are.
